Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

CRM, also called eCRM in the web sphere, is an organized system that lets businesses interact with their clients.

A website CRM program might allow people to register for special offers, and in subsequent transactions you would glean more information about the person, and use that information to tailor opportunities that this individual might like.

CRM is an example of the "one-to-one" future, where the mass market is segmented into numerous niche markets. For instance, a ski resort will offer distinctly different programs to snow boarders and skiers, or mountain bikers and golfers.

You need to be very cautious about collecting information from the underage and about collecting health-care information, because legislation named COPPA and HIPPA set limits and describe penalties.
