My Sun EZ Speedster recumbent - Short Wheel Base, Over Seat Steering ( SWB - OSS)

EZ Speedster CX Recumbent

I bought this bike used in August 2005, from Nick Hein. He'd put 2000 miles on it in two years, rode it DC to Pgh twice. In order to help me buy this bike, Nick had brokered the sale of my Blue cloud recumbent to a rider in Texas. It's the only time I've ever used a bike as a trade-in, and it was a pretty good deal - I bought the Blue Cloud for $200, the buyer bought it for $200 and paid $35 shipping.

So Nick was a known quantity for me, I knew the bike would be as advertised, and he sold my other bike. I gave him $575 for the Speedster, which came with front and rear fenders, a rear rack, a mirror and a bell.

It's a fun ride, and it's the perfect bike for the Montour Trail or similar rides. I do like the OSS (over the seat steering) vs the USS on my previous recumbent. It accelerates normally on flat groung, and quite quickly with any hint of a downgrade. The disc brakes are excellent.

I changed the front chainrings from the original 30/42/52 to 24/39/52, resulting in a significantly lower "low gear". The two tables below show the gear ranges of the OEM and the 2005 gear sets:

I sold this bike in December 2006 for $325, to make room for a Surly Long Haul Trucker I've ordered.
